Roadblocks

Your Freedom Blueprint is designed to show what is possible based on your current situation and a set of assumptions. The projections across all three steps are illustrative β€” not forecasts.

Real life is unpredictable, and your actual results will differ from these numbers. Please read the following carefully.

What You Can Control

The biggest factor in whether your Freedom Blueprint succeeds is you. The economy, interest rates, and property markets are outside your control. But your daily money behaviours β€” how you earn, spend, save, and invest β€” are entirely in your hands.

These are the variables that matter most.

+ Your Money Behaviours
+ Consistency Over Time
+ Spending & Lifestyle Discipline
+ Income Growth

What You CANNOT Control

The following risks are outside your control. They can slow down, accelerate, or change the outcomes of your Freedom Blueprint.

For each risk, we show how the systems built into your strategy help to guard against it β€” but no system can eliminate these risks entirely.

+ Job Loss, Illness & Life Changes
+ Interest Rate Changes
+ Property Market Changes
+ Cost of Living Increases
+ KiwiSaver & Investment Market Risk
+ NZ Superannuation Changes
+ Property-Specific Risks
+ Mortgage Structure Risks

Assumptions Summary

Each step of the Freedom Blueprint builds on the one before it.

A change in your income today affects your seed capital, which affects how fast you pay off your mortgage, which affects when your properties become freehold, which affects your retirement income.

Small changes in the assumptions used in your strategy can lead to significantly different outcomes over long timeframes.

The key assumptions used across your Freedom Blueprint are:

Assumption Rate Used Affects Reality
Income growth 1% per year Steps 01, 02, 03 Depends on your career and circumstances
Expense growth 1% per year Step 01 Can increase faster than assumed
Mortgage interest rate 5.5% flat Steps 02, 03 Changes at each refix β€” could be higher or lower
Property value growth 4% per year Step 03 Varies by location and market cycle
Rent growth 2% per year Step 03 Can be higher or lower depending on demand
KiwiSaver growth 5% per year Step 03 Varies with market conditions and fund type
KiwiSaver drawdown 4% per year Step 03 Designed to last for life but not guaranteed
NZ Super growth 2% per year Step 03 Subject to government policy
Rates & insurance 1% of property value Step 03 Can increase faster than assumed

Working With Financial Advisers

We suggest seeking independent financial advice for decisions involving property, mortgages, investments, and insurance. However, it is worth understanding how the financial advice industry works.

Most financial advisers are paid through commissions on the financial products they sell β€” such as insurance policies, KiwiSaver funds, or investment products. This does not mean their advice is bad, but it does mean their recommendations may be influenced by which products they are paid to sell.

The strategy in your Freedom Blueprint is independent. It is based on your goals, your numbers, and your situation β€” not on selling you a financial product. This is one of the reasons Futurebound is not a registered financial adviser. We want to give you guidance that is aligned with what you want to achieve, without the conflict of needing to sell you something.

Use Your Freedom Blueprint As Your Guide

When you do seek financial advice, you can use your Freedom Blueprint as your guide. It shows what you want to achieve and the steps to get there. A good financial adviser will help you execute the strategy β€” not replace it with something different. You are looking for advisers who will help you do what you have decided to do, not advisers who will redirect you toward their own products.

To reduce friction, you have the choice of using Futurebound preferred partners where possible. These are financial advisers, mortgage advisers, and other professionals who understand the Freedom Blueprint and will work with you to implement it β€” not against it. Your Futurebound Coach or Wealth Strategist can connect you with the right people.

The Futurebound Academy is designed to be your primary resource for implementing the strategy. The Academy walks you through each step in detail so you understand what you are doing and why.

Financial advisers are there to help with specific technical decisions β€” the Academy gives you the knowledge to make sure those decisions align with your strategy.

Next Up: Implementation

The purpose of your Freedom Blueprint is to give you clarity about where you are, where you could be, and what options exist to get there. The numbers are a starting point for conversation β€” not a final answer.

The things you can control β€” your money behaviours, your consistency, your spending discipline β€” matter more than any projection on this page.

The next section brings it all together. It covers how to take what you have seen in your strategy and turn it into action β€” from setting up your systems in the Futurebound Academy, to connecting with the right professionals, to working with the Futurebound Team to keep everything on track as life changes.
